COVID-19 UPDATES

UPDATE: March 16, 2020

As you might imagine, we continue to follow the COVID-19 situation closely, as new information develops each day. Our priority continues to be the health, safety, and well-being of everyone connected to our program.

We continue to serve our members at this time but are making some necessary changes to our schedule. The JAM Sessions (classes M&W 10:00 a.m.) are being canceled for the next two weeks (or more). We will update our plans as the situation warrants.

Members are welcome to use the Fitness on Demand virtual classes as desired.

We are making every effort to limit the number of members using our facility at one time, in order to keep a safe distance. As always, please continue to wipe the equipment, and anything you touch, with our disinfectant spray.

If you would like more flexibility to come in during quiet times, please consider our 24-hour access.

We remain committed to offering the best, cleanest, and safest gym in Grants Pass. We hope to remain open but will honor the Oregon Health Authority's dictates as the situation changes.

We appreciate the support of all our members during this difficult time!

Thrive Wellness exists for the health and wellness of our members and the community. With that in mind, I’d like to share info regarding the COVID-19 and how we can lower our risk.

First, I would encourage you to get your information directly from the CDC and not every so-called expert on social media. Access the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

What can we do to keep Thrive Wellness low risk? We can work together using medically sound, common sense methods without making ourselves crazy in the process! We all come in contact with germs every day and the same caution we use to avoid colds and flus apply to the COVID-19 virus.

At Thrive, we have always had a solid protocol for cleaning and are known for being ‘the cleanest gym in town’ but are now being even more diligent. However, we can’t do it alone and that’s where you come in. Spray bottles of hospital-grade disinfectant and disposable wipes are available all around the gym for your convenience and use.

Please wipe down the equipment after each use
By working together, you can be assured that the equipment is clean when you use it and will be clean for the next member, as well. Please be especially mindful of cleaning all things you touch. If you’re especially concerned about infection, you are welcome to wipe the equipment down before use, but always do it afterwards, too. Please don’t make us be “playground monitors” that must remind you. Thanks for that!

Exercise is a great defense
Yes, it’s true! Regular exercise is proven to boost your immune system. Now is not the time to reduce your commitment to exercise. As always, try to eat well and exercise regularly. You’ll have more energy, feel better and boost your immune system.

Wash your hands
Washing your hands for 20 seconds is effective. Since we can’t really avoid all germs, it’s important to wash your hands well and often. Avoid touching your face (eyes, nose, mouth). Amazingly, that’s not as easy as you might think! So, wash your hands often. Yes, we also have hand sanitizer available for your convenience, but good ol’ fashion soap and water are best.

Stay home if you’re sick
So far, there are no known cases of COVID-19 in Josephine County but that’s likely to change. If you think you may have come in contact with someone with a case of COVID-19 or if you’re experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), please stay home! Don’t take chances of spreading any illness to the members and trainers of Thrive Wellness. We all appreciate it!

“Social distancing” is effective
Avoiding crowds is important, especially if you have a compromised immune system or severe chronic disease. Even if you don’t fall into a high-risk category, please don’t risk spreading the disease to those who are more vulnerable. Keeping a safe distance from one another isn’t snobbish or paranoid…. it’s safer for all.

However, there are also some warnings that we should avoid going out in public, especially the elderly over 60. (Wait! When did 60 become ‘elderly’?) As an “over-60” myself, I can tell you that I will use caution, but I’m not going to stay home for weeks or months! I’m going to use common sense, wash my hands regularly, eat well, continue to exercise, stay away from large crowds, and not panic. I encourage you to do the same.

24-hour access to Thrive Wellness
Don’t forget that Thrive Wellness offers 24-hour member access. In the (hopefully) unlikely event that businesses are required to temporarily close, you’ll still have access to Thrive! If you want unlimited access, please make sure to get your 24-hour key fob now. Ask us for details.

All of us at Thrive Wellness remain committed to offering the best, safest and cleanest gym to you! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Remember, you were made to Thrive!
